Barrington Youth Soccer Association was formed in 1978 as a recreational (house league) program before extending out to offer a competitive soccer program under the name of Barrington Soccer Club in 1980. 

BYSA and Barrington Soccer Club are affiliated at the state level with Soccer Rhode Island (SRI) and at the national level with United States Youth Soccer Association (USYSA).

With growing interest in the sport of soccer, the growth of the club has been exponential. In 2004 the club invested in the quality of player training and experience by hiring professional soccer coaches for our fall and spring competitive team leagues. Then in 2005 the club added a winter training program to support continued skill development between seasons. 

Initially, the competitive teams were only U12 & U14. In 2006 the club also developed spring U9/U10 due to popular demand. In 2010 younger age groups became year round programs. In 2012 the club provided a U16/U18/U20 teams for the spring season opposite the high school soccer season. The majority of players in our travel program begin with BYSA Mini Kicker program (ages 4+) & we are delighted to offer a true youth sport experience for all.
